Audemars Piguet Watch History
A major Swiss watch manufacturer name, Audemar Piquet came to light in 1889 when two talented and passionate young men from a little town in Switzerland, Jules Audemar and Edward-August Piquet officially founded their own company. Due to strict quality control, their sophisticated watches gained acclaim before long and the company expanded steadily in the following decades.
Audemars Piquet is well-known for the first minute repeater wristwatch completed in 1892, the thinnest pocket watch created in 1925 and the first skeleton watch in the world which appeared a few years later. Using the same old-fashioned hand-made technique and never exceeding the amount of 16,000 watches a year, the company still holds one the leading positions in this branch.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, named after the hollow tree trunk in which Charles II is said to have sought refuge, is their most famous series, the first stainless steel luxury wristwatches ever created.
